The Thini VDC is excited to formally partner with two organizations who are invested in supporting early childhood education and the Thini community.
Learn To Play (https://learntoplay.org/), a non-profit organization based in Gaborone, is a leader in early childhood development in Botswana. Learn To Play will serve as a fiscal sponsor and technical advisor to the Early Learning Center in addition to setting up a playgroup in Thini, specifically to serve the Sabasi community (the most underprivileged in Thini). The playgroup offers a daily early learning program led by local mothers who are trained to support the children’s school readiness outcomes, with an emphasis on social and emotional learning through mindful play practices. Through this work, Learn To Play provides a stipend to up to 10 local women to manage the playgroup. For more information please visit the Learn To Play website.
Miss Botswana Organization
Ms. Anicia Gaothusi, Miss Botswana 2024, grew up in Thini. During a recent Homecoming Celebration in May, she visited the Center and as a result, both she and the Miss Botswana organization have decided to “adopt” the Center and will support its expansion effort. With a sizable social media presence, her involvement offers significant PR & Marketing benefits to companies that contribute to the expansion.
